Jane Pauley was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on 31 October 1950. She is currently 68 years old. Pauley is the second child to Richard and Mary Pauley.  Her father was a traveling salesperson for the Wilson Milk Company while her mother was a proficient musician and a homemaker skilled at mathematics. Her older sibling is called Ann. Since childhood, Jane has been idolizing her. To this date, Ann has always been her closest confidante.

Career, Early life

Jane began her career while she was still in high school.  She won a speech and debate championship while she was still in high school.  Her experience in forensics back in high school garnered her experience in what would become her professional career for decades.

After graduating from high school, she attended Indiana University, where she based herself in political science. After completion of her course, she got a job as a reporter for the WISH-TV which was an affiliate of CBS. Three years after in the channel, she joined the veteran anchor Kalber Floyd in the NBC’s affiliate WMAQ-TV becoming the first Chicago woman to be a co-anchor for the major evening news.

At the age of 25, barely ten months in WMAQ-TV, she joined Today show replacing Barbra Walters.  Jane Pauley co-hosted the show from 1976 until 1989. Pauley had been hoping for a change since she had given birth to her twins and wished to have more time with them. Consequently, she quit NBC Today’s show. After successful negotiations with NBC, she announced to be making an appearance on another NBC channel show.

When she announced her departure from Today show, she received a lot of support from people across America. Her image ran in several magazines like the New York Times and Life magazines. After laying low for a while, Jane Pauley returned to NBC with the title Change: Conversations with Jane Pauley.

Her return to TV came with her new show titled The Jane Pauley Show which happened to be a syndicated daytime talk show distributed under NBC.  The show did not get a high rating as it was expected; hence, it was canceled after one season. In 2009, Jane returned to the Today Show as a contributor whereby she hosted weekly segments. Later in 2013, there was a reunion whereby all the hosts who were in the Today show made an appearance for a special edition.

On April 2014, she started contributing for the CBS Sunday Morning, and after the retirement of Charles Osgood, she took over as the host of CBS Sunday Morning. Pauley has also been a been host for CBS this morning and filled in for Scott Pelley on CBS Evening News.
