After graduating from college, Geoffrey went to France, where he decided to pursue a career as a chef. His work as a professional chef was at Le Cirque, where he worked under chef Daniel Boulud. While working in Le Cirque, he was named Chef de Cuisine from 1982 to 1987.
Zakarian worked in various restaurants under many chefs at the beginning of his career. But in the Spring of 2001, he opened his own restaurant as Town in the East Side of Midtown Manhattan in the Chambers Hotel. Furthermore, he opened his second restaurant named Country in 2005, third named The Lambs Club in 2010, and fourth named The National in 2010. Later in 2011, he started his fifth restaurant called Tudor House in Miami.

As of 2019, the chef is working as a consultant at the Water Club in Atlanta City. Similarly, he is also working as an executive chef at the Lamb’s Club in New York City.
Television Career
In May of 2011, Zakarian competed as a challenger in the competition, Iron Chef America. At that time, he lost to the Japanese chef Masaharu Morimoto with a score of 57-43. A year later, he came back to the competition and won the title, The Next Iron Chef, in December of 2011.

Apart from that, the chef also appeared as a judge in competitions like Food Network’s Chopped, 24 Hour Resturant Battle, Top Chef, and Cutthroat Kitchen. Besides, he also worked as a host in the television series like The Kitchen and Cooks vs. Cons. Additionally, Zakarian worked as a judge in the series Chopped alongside the chef Alex Guarnaschelli.
Published Work
In 2006, Geoffrey released his debut book, Geoffrey Zakarian’s Town/Country. The book contains 150 recipes for family and friends, and The New York Times also named the book as one of the best of 2006. Besides, the book is available at the price of $13.81 for the hardcover edition.
Legal Issues & Controversies
In 2011, Geoffrey field a lawsuit citing personal bankruptcy when his employees filed a lawsuit against him. His employees suited him for gross violation of labor laws and claiming to payback. At that time, both of the partners of Geoffrey supported their workers, but Zakarian denied them all. Later the lawsuit was settled outside of the court.

After withdrawing from the restaurant The National in the Trump International Hotel Washington, D.C., in 2015, Trump sued Geoffrey for $10 million for lost rent and other damages. It happened when Trump commented about illegal immigrants. As Zakarian was also an immigrant, he said it hurt his personal core values. But after all these dramas, the suit was settled outside of the court in 2017.
